Political Polarization and The Righteous Mind

This class — part of our ongoing “Healing the Heart of America” initiative — is a partnership with the Jung Center.  Tuition, registration and the class sessions are all organized through their organization, not the Unity of Houston campus.

Why does one person favor the Democrats, while another favors Republicans or Libertarians? The field of moral psychology suggests that the reasons for our allegiance to one or another perspective have much less to do with conscious, logical reasoning than with unconscious moral intuition and that once we align with a moral tribe, we lose the capacity to see alternative moral narratives. How can we ever govern successfully together? If you are tired of political polarization, join us for this exploration. Recommended Reading: The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Division, Jonathan Haidt.
